About College

Emarti Devi Women's College, the dream child of Late Smt. Emarti Devi, was founded by Joharimal Public Charitable Trust on 18th August, 1980. Since Women's Education has gained enormous importance by our Nation Builders, this College is on the way to fulfil the intention of the constitution and fortunately it happens to be one of the premier Private Women's Educational institutions of Cuttack City . 

From the very first day of its inception the College started functioning on the first floor of J.P.C. Trust Building at Nayasarak with 55 Women Students, 7 Lecturers, 1 Librarian, 1 Clerk, and 1 Peon. Under the able management of the J.P.C. Trust, the College has been growing stronger day by day. Now it is enjoying the status of a Non-Government full aided College having direct payment system. At present the College has an array of nearly 1088 Women Students on its rolls with 30 Teaching and 20 Non-teaching staff, 1 Demonstrator (Home Science) 1 P.E.T. 

Due to the sincere and selfless effort of the Governing Body, the Arts faculty at the level of Intermediate, opened in 1981-82 and was affiliated to Utkal University . Due to the changed policy of the State Government, +2 Arts of Education was introduced according to the system of 10 + 2 + 3 and the Intermediate faculty was replaced by +2 system of Education and the same has been affiliated to the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Orissa in the year 1983-84. 

In the academic session 2000-2001+2 Commerce faculty was opened.

In 1986 the College got affiliated to Utkal University for +3 degree course in pass and in 1994-95 session, it was allowed by the Government to open Hons. Classes in History and Home Science. In the academic year 1998-1999 Hons. Teaching facilities in Pol. Science and Hindi were provided. In the session 1999-2000 other Hons. like Oriya, Sanskrit, Economics and also teaching facility in Sociology (Pass) at +3 stage were opened.

The Students of this College are sincere, honest and have proved their academic excellence. Besides curriculum, the College also earned good reputation in the field of Co-curricular activities performed at the College and inter College level. 

The Cuttack Development Authority has been pleased to allot a plot of land at Bidanasi for the greater interest of the College.

The College enjoys the status of an ideal institution headed by the dynamic President of the Governing Body, and efficient Principal and equally Co-operative and sympathetic staff members and the obedient Students.

The esteemed members of the NAAC Peer team visited the college on 17th and 18th December 2005 and made an overall assessment of the activities of the college in different fields and eventually the college was accredited by NAAC with B Grade. 

Thus our College is marching ahead towards a brilliant future. May this institution be a perennial source of knowledge and inspiration to one and all.

 Objective

(1) To become a recognised institution providing quality education in the field of commerce and humanities. 
(2) To provide value based and need based education and training courses oriented to the needs of society. 
(3) To make students spiritual oriented through extra - mural lectures. 
(4) To recommend the cases of scholarship / Rly concession, bus concession / leave of absence / Free studentship and anything a student wishes to communicate to the authority. 
(5) To sign all conduct certificates and send them to the principal for counter signature. 
(6) To discover the potential of the student and to encourage its development.
